Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, or using VaultCam ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App. The App is made by Amar Duwal ("we", "us").
What VaultCam is
VaultCam is an offline recorder for Android 8.0 and later. It records audio, video, and the screen, encrypts each recording with AES-256-GCM as it is saved, and keeps it in an encrypted vault on your phone. It includes a player, trim and compress tools, export and share, and evidence tools (a SHA-256 fingerprint, a session log, and a chain-of-custody PDF). The App has no internet permission and requires no account.
Your responsibility for recording
- The App always shows that it is recording, with a notification and Android's camera or microphone indicator. It is not made for recording people without their knowledge.
- You agree not to use the App to record anyone unlawfully, to harass or stalk anyone, or to invade anyone's privacy.
- You agree not to try to remove, block, or work around the recording notification or indicators.
Evidence tools
The SHA-256 fingerprint, session log, and chain-of-custody PDF can help show that a file has not changed since it was saved. We make no promise that any court, authority, or other party will accept a recording or report as evidence. Get legal advice for your situation.
Your PIN and your recordings
- Your vault opens only with your PIN or your fingerprint. There is no recovery and no backdoor.
- If you forget your PIN, your recordings cannot be recovered by you, by us, or by anyone else.
- Recordings are stored only on your phone. If you lose the phone, reset it, delete a recording, or uninstall the App, that data is gone. We cannot restore it.
- Copies you export or share are not encrypted and leave the App's protection. You are responsible for them.
Free to use
The App is free. There are no ads, no paywalls, no subscriptions, and no in-app purchases. Every feature is available to everyone.
Donations
- The version of the App distributed outside Google Play links to a Support page where you can send an optional donation. The Google Play version has no donation links.
- A donation is a voluntary gift, not a purchase. It gives no features, services, priority support, or other benefit.
- Donations are non-refundable. Crypto transfers cannot be reversed, so check the address and network before you send.
- Payments are processed by the service you choose (Khalti, eSewa, PayPal, or a crypto network) under its own terms.
Your content
- You own the recordings you make. We do not claim any rights in them.
- Your recordings stay on your phone. We have no access to them.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for anything illegal, including unlawful recording
- Use the App to harm, threaten, harass, or stalk anyone
- Modify or repackage the App to remove the recording notification or other safety features
- Distribute modified copies of the App under the VaultCam name
Data and privacy
Your use of the App is also covered by our Privacy Policy. In short: we collect no data, and the App cannot connect to the internet.
Intellectual property
The App, its name, its logo, and its design belong to the developer. These terms do not give you any right to use the VaultCam name or logo.
Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, THAT EVERY RECORDING WILL BE CAPTURED OR SAVED COMPLETELY, THAT IT WILL WORK ON EVERY DEVICE, OR THAT ANY SECURITY MEASURE CANNOT BE DEFEATED. ANDROID OR YOUR PHONE MAKER MAY STOP OR LIMIT BACKGROUND RECORDING. THE APP IS NOT AN EMERGENCY SERVICE. IF YOU ARE IN DANGER, CONTACT YOUR LOCAL EMERGENCY NUMBER.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA OR RECORDINGS (INCLUDING LOSS CAUSED BY A FORGOTTEN PIN, DEVICE LOSS, DEVICE RESET, OR UNINSTALLATION), FOR HOW YOU USE THE APP OR ANY RECORDING, OR FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.
Changes to these terms
- We may update these terms. The effective date above will change when we do.
- If you keep using the App after a change, you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal. Before taking any formal step, we ask that you contact us so we can try to resolve the issue in good faith. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the place where you live.
